Every Court Has a Story

Every Court Has a Story

Every Court Has a Story

Public park basketball courts are by definition public spaces. Places where neighbor and stranger practice coming together to achieve a common goal. Places where young people can problem solve with adults in their communities who are not family, teachers, or coaches.

Public park basketball courts are also intimate spaces. Where people can imagine and activate their dreams. Every public park court is homecourt to many, each with their own story. Tell us yours.

In June, 2023, we’ll pick one court to receive a full renovation (crack repair, patch fill, resurfacing, color coating, and backboards/rims as needed), courtesy of Five-Star Basketball, Project Backboard and Local Hoops.

How it works

Step 1
Take a video or photos of your court

Submit a 60 – 120 second video or 4 - 6 photos about your home court. Be sure to include video or images of current court conditions. Be creative, and tell a story. Whether your video or photos are simple or highly edited, the strongest video or photo submissions will show:

(a) why your homecourt is important to your community and (b) the impact a newly renovated basketball court will have on your community.

Find a teammate! Group submissions are encouraged.

Step 2
Submit your video or photos below

Submit your video or photos by May 31st for a chance to win the prize of having your court renovated. All video files are accepted. All photos must be jpeg or png files.

Step 3
We'll announce winners

Once submissions close, four finalists will be chosen by Langston Galloway followed by a fan vote in June to determine the overall winner. Other prizes will be awarded to the finalists.
